GOVERNOR JOHN SAYS "FOCUS ON THE STARS"

 

 

     Our mission will be to FOCUS on the young people in the nation, as a whole, down to the young people in our local communities.  FOCUS on the youth events that we have provided in the past and remember the expression that we have seen on some of the faces of the young people and some of the thank you notes that we might have received from youth of the month programs.  FOCUS on the proud smiles of an oratorical or essay winner, or maybe that young person who might have been a scholarship winner.  These are just a few of the great things we do as Optimists.  I take pride in the things that we have done for the young people in the past, and look forward to continuing my role as an Optimist in the future.

 

     When I look back on some of the events that I have helped with, and remember some of the comments from the Optimist Volunteers stating that they wouldn't work this hard if they got paid for it, in reality, what they were saying is that they really enjoy what we do for the young people of our communities.

 

     Our REWARDS for our efforts are in our hearts and the faces of young people who we serve as Optimists.  And, now is the time for us to FOCUS ON THE STARS (young people) in our lives for today and tomorrow.  Let us make a difference in the young people of our communities.  The rewards are out of this world!
